Work and later life planning
Population Ageing and the Economy
Contains information relating to positive and healthy ageing, work and later life planning and health and care.
This research, commissioned through Access Economics, describes the issues surrounding a projected increase in the supply of mature age workers in the coming decades. There are implications for the 'baby boomer' cohort and in the market place for goods and services.
The Access Economics research focuses on three key areas:
- The requirement for businesses to change their attitudes towards mature age workers, outlined in Chapter 1 - Too Valuable to Waste
- Potential negative effects of demographic changes over the coming decades, and how these can be converted to positive attitudes towards mature age workers, outlined in Chapter 2 - All in it together; and
- The impact of an expected increase in retail spending by over 55year olds in the next decade, outlined in Chapter 3 - The Silver Market goes Platinum.
