2009 Survey of Aged Care Homes

The 2009 Survey of Aged Care Homes was circulated to all approved providers in August 2009. Each year’s Survey of Aged Care Homes seeks information on accommodation payments and building activity during the previous financial year for each and every operating residential aged care service (RACS). Approved Providers are required to complete the 2009 survey questionnaire for each service with a distinct RACS ID number that they owned on 17 August 2009.

The Department of Health and Ageing appreciates the time being spent by all Approved Providers and their staff to provide the information. Thank you for your assistance.

The Department gathers this information to prepare the annual Report on the Operation of the Aged Care Act 1997. The Minister for Ageing is required by Section 63-2 of the Aged Care Act 1997 to include the information collected by the Survey in a report to Parliament by 30 November in each year. This information is only available to the Department through the Survey of Aged Care Homes.

2009 Survey Questionnaire

The questionnaire for the Survey is similar to last year and is circulated in hard-copy form by post to all Approved Providers. Responses are required by 18 September 2009. Information collected by the Survey is confidential and protected by law. It will be used only for the Report on the Operation of the Aged Care Act 1997 and for statistical research. No data will be publicly disclosed that identify individual services, providers or residents. Information from the Survey will not be used for compliance purposes.
