Communication with the Department
Most Australian Government funded programs for health technologies have websites that provide information about the funding program, eligibility criteria, making applications, and assessment processes. These websites also provide contact details to get further information.Applicants are encouraged to contact the relevant area of the Department of Health and Ageing before making an application to determine the need for pre-assessment advice. Advice is provided on applying to the assessment and appraisal processes.

When to seek assistance from the Health Technology Assessment Access Point (HTAAP)

For example, in the case where a technology is co-dependent on another technology.Communication during the application process
Communication between potential applicants/applicants and the Department will be minimal, but communication does occur in the following instances:- if there is a need for an initial meeting or industry seminar briefing;
- to acknowledge receipt of an application;
- where clarification is required from the applicant in order to progress the application;
- to advise the applicant of the outcome
Funding programs that do not require formal HTA and advisory committees to inform reimbursement decisions

- National Epidermolysis Bullosa Dressing Scheme
- Stoma Appliance Scheme
