Around Australia in 40 Days Challenge: Small Steps to Big Things
On 19 June 2007, Health Minister Tony Abbott, along with soccer star and Healthy Active Ambassador Harry Kewell, announced an interactive walking challenge for high school students.Students participating in the Around Australia in 40 Days Challenge will use a pedometer to record their daily steps with the aim to “walk” around Australia in 40 days or less. Each team’s average steps for each day will be entered into an internet based program and all teams that complete the Challenge will be entered into a prize draw to win up to $10,000 in sporting and playground equipment for their school. Winners and runners up will be drawn in each state and territory.
