AHIC

Archived document

The Australian Health Information Council (AHIC) was established by Health Ministers to provide independent advice on long-term directions and national strategic reform issues for information management and information and communication technology in health. The role of AHIC is to provide independent advice to help inform the Australian, State and Territory Governments about national priorities and the requirements of end users of health information technology. AHIC works in close consultation with NHIMPC, both of which report to the Australian Health Ministers’ Advisory Council.

Membership of AHIC is broad and includes clinicians, researchers, health informatics experts and IT sector members. Members of AHIC were appointed by the Australian Health Ministers’ Advisory Council for their expertise in the area of information management and information and communication technology (IM&ICT) in health settings.

More information on AHIC can be found on the Department of Health and Ageing website.
