Administrative and systems support will be provided to enable community pharmacies to take up programs to improve their services, funded by the government under the Fourth Community Pharmacy Agreement.

Why is this important?

  • This measure will provide administrative and systems support for the delivery of professional programs and services to community pharmacies and their clients under the Fourth Community Pharmacy Agreement.
  • The Fourth Agreement promotes and supports the delivery of professional programs and services to improve the quality use of PBS medicines by Indigenous Australians, assist clients in self managing their asthma and diabetes, improve medication compliance, and support and educate pharmacies to improve services to clients.

Who will benefit?

  • Community pharmacies will benefit from improvements to their business practices and systems.
  • Clients of community pharmacies across Australia will benefit from the introduction of these services.

What funding is the Government committing to the initiative?

  • The Government has committed $24.4 million in new funding over the next four years for this measure.

What have we done in the past?

  • The Fourth Community Pharmacy Agreement provides funding for professional programs and services to be delivered in community pharmacies over the life of the Fourth Agreement. Several of these programs have continued from the Third Agreement.

When will the initiative conclude?

  • This initiative is ongoing.
