The Health Reform advertising campaign commenced in May 2010 to help Australians understand the reforms and know where to access information. The campaign appeared on television, radio, press and online with phases set to continue in the future to ensure the community is updated and aware of reform details. The department has also developed a website ‘yourHealth’ which provides updated information and publications on the reform.

The Measure Up Campaign had a new wave of advertising from 28 February 2010.  This campaign aims to provide people with information and tips about being active and eating healthy to help reduce lifestyle related chronic disease and maintain good health. The campaign has been extended for another four years as part of the National Partnership on Preventative Health.

A new stage of the National Drugs Campaign was launched in March 2010. This campaign builds on earlier work of the National Drug Strategy 2004-2009 and aims to increase awareness of the harms associated with drug use and to reduce uptake. The campaign also features a website and the 1800 250 015 phone line for assistance and information.

To help Australians quit smoking, the 2010 stage of the National Tobacco Campaign used a new message for the campaigns re-launch: “When you smoke you inhale over 4,000 chemicals”.

The National Youth Alcohol Campaign ‘Drinking nightmare’ aims to contribute, along with a range of initiatives, to a reduction in harms associated with drinking to intoxication by young Australians.

Help with accessing large documents

When accessing large documents (over 500 KB in size), it is recommended that the following procedure be used:

  1. Click the link with the RIGHT mouse button
  2. Choose "Save Target As.../Save Link As..." depending on your browser
  3. Select an appropriate folder on a local drive to place the downloaded file

Attempting to open large documents within the browser window (by left-clicking) may inhibit your ability to continue browsing while the document is opening and/or lead to system problems.

Help with accessing PDF documents

To view PDF (Portable Document Format) documents, you will need to have a PDF reader installed on your computer. A number of PDF readers are available through the Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO) Web Guide website.
